About The Campaign

Technology has changed the way we learn and work, yet schools today look and function much as they did 50 years ago.

Make Mine A Model School is a community-based campaign to mobilize Delaware educators, students, families, and citizens who want modern schools that inspire passionate teaching and learning.

What is a Model School?

A Model School is a proven school design that resembles a modern workplace, where everyone is a respected member of the team. Every day, students use the technology they will be expected to use in college or on the job, and they gain key 21st Century skills in communication, group work and time management. Graduates are ready to go to college or get a good job.

What does a Model School look like?

A modern Model School looks dramatically different from a traditional school.
Picture this:

  • Students are not sitting in rows. They are actively learning by doing.
  • Teachers are coaching students to become independent learners who find information and solve problems.

Why is a Model School a better choice?

When school is interesting, relevant and personal, the students are more engaged and they achieve at higher levels. In proven models, even those who were at risk of dropping out often choose to stay, learn and graduate. If you would like Delaware students to have this choice, join the Make Mine A Model School campain.
